Serving Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, Orange Park, Lakeside and nearby areas in North Florida, the medical spa at Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery offers Ultherapy®, a revolutionary non-surgical procedure that has changed the face of non-invasive, anti-aging treatments. This procedure uses ultrasound technology in an innovative way, to lift the brow, cheeks, jowls, neck, and chest, all areas that are commonly rejuvenated with surgical procedures.
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a state-of-the-art procedure that uses ultrasound technology to deliver energy into the deeper layers of your skin. This stimulates your body’s own natural collagen production, enhancing elasticity and skin volume naturally. Collagen production normally decreases as we grow older, resulting in sagging skin, wrinkles and a loss of skin volume and elasticity in some areas. With Ultherapy® you can rejuvenate your appearance without undergoing surgery.
How Much Does Ultherapy® Cost in Jacksonville?
Most patients require only one Ultherapy® treatment to achieve optimal results; however, some patients may require more than one, depending on the condition of your skin and your aesthetic goals. The cost of the procedure is based on your individual treatment, and costs will be discussed during your initial consultation. We strive to make Ultherapy® as affordable as possible for all our patients, and our office accepts personal checks, cash, and major credit cards. Financing options are also available.

Is Ultherapy® a Preventative Measure?
Many of our patients are opting for Ultherapy® to help prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles even before they appear. Although collagen production begins to slow during the 20s and 30s, the long-term effects of this change may not be visible for some years. Ultherapy® helps stimulate and increase collagen production as soon as it starts to diminish, literally slowing down the aging process and warding off the appearance of sagging skin and wrinkles.
How Does Ultherapy® Work?
The trans-dermal procedure uses a combination of ultrasound images and ultrasonic thermal energy to bypass surface skin and to treat the deeper layers that have lost firmness due to aging and gravity.
First, our trained technician visually assesses the various layers, through an ultrasonic image. The Ulthera® applicator displays images of structural tissue layers that until now have only been visible in surgical procedures. Treatment can then be applied to specific areas. This increases the possibility of better results.
The same Ulthera® applicator then focuses thermal energy to designated tissues. Using ultrasonic thermal technology, we then treat these areas to produce a concentration of collagen. The result is increased collagen stores that deliver elasticity, firmness and lift to the skin.
Is Ultherapy® Natural and Non-Invasive?
Yes, Ultherapy® is a natural and non-invasive treatment. Ultherapy treatments do not penetrate or burn the skin, it uses heat energy to stimulate your own collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, tighter skin and muscles. There are no injections of toxic or chemical substances, as with Botox® or dermal fillers, and the outer layer of skin is unaffected by intense light or heat, as with lasers.
This procedure does not have any surgical components, no recovery or downtime, and patients can drive to and from appointments themselves thus rendering this procedure non-invasive.
Is Ultherapy® Right for Me?
All patients can render benefits from Ultherapy®. Patients who show minor signs of aging and who are not ready for a surgical facelift are ideal candidates for Ultherapy®. Those whose skin has lost elasticity and tone notice drastic tightening and lifting over time. For patients who have not shown aging signs yet, Ultherapy® can be customized to only deliver a collagen boost, resulting in a brighter, plumper skin.
Ultherapy® is not, however, the ideal procedure for patients with advanced sagging and deep wrinkles. These patients, however, may benefit from a surgical facelift.
How Many Ultherapy® Treatments will I Need?
Results are noticeable after only one Ultherapy® treatment and will continue to improve for about two or three months, with the maximum effects becoming visible about six months after treatment. Many people require only one treatment, while others may require two or three sessions. You may choose to have a touch-up treatment performed in the future if you notice that your body has once again reduced production of collagen.
Recovery from Ultherapy®
Because Ultherapy® is a non-invasive procedure there is no downtime or recovery required. You will be free to resume your regular activities the moment you leave our office. Your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight for a few days afterward, so we recommend that you take extra precautions to protect yourself from the sun whenever you are outdoors. Over-the-counter medication may be used to alleviate any minor swelling or discomfort that you may experience, and these symptoms will subside in a day or two.
Optimum results of Ultherapy® are noticeable within two to three months. As deep collagen continually regenerates, the skin appears tighter and firmer over the course of six months. While some skin laxity is improved immediately, the real benefit comes to those who wait.

Is Ultherapy® surgery?
Ultherapy® is not surgery. It is a non-surgical treatment that doesn’t require any incisions. Thermal energy is applied from the surface of the skin. The heat stimulates collagen development to reduce sagging and tighten the skin.
Is Ultherapy® FDA-cleared?
Ultherapy® was first approved in 2009 by the FDA as a skin tightening treatment for the face. A few years later, the FDA approved use for skin tightening of the neck and chin. A third FDA approval was received in 2014 for the imaging component of the system. Currently, Ultherapy is the only non-surgical technique approved by the FDA to tighten and lift the skin and muscles of the face and neck.
Is Ultherapy® & Ulthera® the same thing?
Yes, Ultherapy® and Ulthera® are the same treatment. Ulthera is the name of the company and Ultherapy is the actual treatment.
What to expect?
Ultrasound imaging is used to identify areas that require correction. The handpiece is used to administer thermal energy, and you will feel a mild warming sensation. Face and neck treatment can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, and an upper chest treatment takes about 30 minutes. Your skin may have a slightly pink or red appearance for the first 3 to 4 hours.
