What is Recovery from a Brow Lift Like?

Patients can expect to take 1-2 weeks off of work and other activities immediately following their brow lift surgery. During this time, you should plan to rest as much as possible. You can expect to experience bruising, swelling and discomfort in the treatment area. We’ll prescribe pain medication to help manage your discomfort.

You will have to observe some restrictions following a brow lift. Typically, you will be required to avoid strenuous activities for 4-6 weeks. This includes exercise and any type of heavy lifting. Although you will be able to visibly appreciate the results of the procedure after a couple of weeks, it can take several weeks or even a few months (after all bruising and swelling heals) before the final results become fully visible.

How Soon After My Brow Lift Will My Before and After Photo Be Taken?

We will take your brow lift before and after pictures three months after the brow lift surgery. The brow lift photo is an important part of your follow-up visit to Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery. At that time, the brow lift before and after photographs will be analyzed by Dr. Garcia and the patient.

Frequently Asked Brow Lift Post-Surgical Questions

  • How long does it take to recover from a brow lift?

The recovery timeline after a brow lift procedure can vary depending on several factors, including the patient’s overall health, the extent of the procedure, and the technique used. Generally, however, patients can expect to make a full recovery in 4 to 6 weeks. Here is a typical timeline for brow lift recovery:

    • Days 1-2:
      • The first two days after the procedure, patients may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can
be managed with pain medication and cold compresses.
    • Days 3-7:
      • By the third to seventh day, swelling and bruising should start to subside, and patients should start to feel
        more comfortable.
    • Week 2:
      • By the second week, most patients can return to work and other light activities, although they may still
experience some swelling and tenderness in the forehead area.
    • Weeks 2-4:
      • Over the course of the second to fourth week, swelling and tenderness should continue to subside, and patients
should start to see the full results of the procedure.
    • Months 2-3:
      • Patients should be fully back to normal by the end of the 2nd month after their brow lift surgery. Results may
continue to finalize as residual swelling heals and the facial tissue continues adjusting to surgery.
  • Is there pain after a brow lift??

While the brow lift procedure is not painful at all, patients should expect some pain during the brow lift recovery. It is during this period where the body is healing and feels the trauma of the surgical process. Fortunately, this pain should only last a few days, and can be managed with pain medications and other post-operative techniques.

  • How long does a brow lift last??

The results of a brow lift can last for several years, although the exact duration will depend on several factors, including the patient’s age, skin quality, and overall health. Generally, younger patients with good skin elasticity and overall health can expect longer-lasting results from a brow lift. For most patients, this means results last for 5-10 years and sometimes longer.

The effects of aging, including gravity, loss of skin elasticity, and sun damage, will inevitably cause the brows to sag again over time, and a touch-up procedure may be necessary to maintain the desired results. A brow lift does not stop the aging process, but instead helps to improve the appearance of the brows and restore a more youthful appearance.
