Rhinoplasty in Lakeside, FL

Double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Phillip Garcia, head of Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery, uses rhinoplasty to reshape the noses of men and women from Lakeside, FL, and the surrounding areas. Rhinoplasty not only transforms the shape of the nose, but it can also bring balance and proportion to the entire face. This surgery is often performed to reduce bumps along the nasal bridge, reshape or narrow the nostrils, reduce the overall size of the nose, and correct other cosmetic concerns. However, rhinoplasty can also be performed for functional reasons, such as straightening a deviated septum.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Most commonly known as a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures. Patients seek rhinoplasty for a number of reasons, including removing nasal humps, narrowing the nasal bridge or tip, altering the angle of the nose in relation to the upper lip, and enlarging or reducing the width of the nostrils and/or overall size of the nose. One or more of these changes can make the nose more balanced and harmonious with the rest of the face.

There are two major types nasal surgery:

  • Cosmetic nasal surgery involves the reshaping of the nose’s anatomical structure for non-medical reasons.
  • Functional nasal surgery involves surgical repair and reconstruction of the nose to improve breathing and overall nasal function.

At Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery, our surgeons address both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the nose during rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty Candidates

Cosmetic rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that can reshape one or more parts of the nose, including the tip, nasal bridge, nostrils, or the entire nose. Rhinoplasty is a highly personalized procedure that largely depends on the anatomical structure of your nose, your desired outcome, and Dr. Garcia’s recommended technique. Dr. Garcia requires that all teens who are interested in rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons reach the age where their nose has fully matured, which is usually around 18 for boys and 17 for girls, before undergoing this procedure.

Rhinoplasty is also used to restore breathing and repair nasal trauma and abnormalities resulting from injury or congenital disorders. Dr. Garcia uses many of the same techniques utilized in cosmetic rhinoplasty to correct damage to the nose and/or septum.
Nasal surgery is often performed strictly for medical purposes, such as correcting breathing issues or sinus problems. In these instances, rhinoplasty may be performed to straighten the flap of cartilage between the nostrils, which is medically known as the septum, or it may be used to support the nasal structure or repair damage that obstructs nasal airflow. When rhinoplasty is used to correct medical problems and restore nasal function, most health insurance providers will cover the cost of surgery.
