Neck Lift in Lakeside, FL

The neck is the area of the body that shows the initial signs of aging. For some people, the neck ages faster than their face. Other people experience “turkey” neck or the wattle effect, a condition that is characterized by loose, sagging bands of skin on the neck. A neck lift gives you the opportunity to restore your neck’s youthful appearance. Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Phillip Garcia, double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, offers neck lifts to men and women who live in Lakeside, Florida.

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift, also known as a platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that eliminates skin sagging at the jawline and reduces the appearance of neck bands. Having a firm, defined jawline and neck area will help rejuvenate your appearance.

A neck lift treats the following issues:

  • Neck bands
  • The turkey wattle effect
  • Sagging or excessive skin
  • Neck folds
  • Excessive amounts of fat in the neck and lower face.

The Neck Lift Procedure

A neck lift is a safe and procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis. The procedure involves the use of a local or twilight anesthetic. Dr. Garcia will make an incision under the chin, behind the ears or in both places. During the procedure, the neck muscles are realigned and tightened. Dr. Garcia will also remove any excess skin and fat from the neck. Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Garcia uses absorbable sutures to close the incision. For some patients, the dressing is applied over the sutures.

Neck Lift Recovery

Mild bruising and swelling may occur after a neck lift procedure. Dr. Garcia may prescribe medication to address any discomfort. Patients who had dressing applied to their sutures usually have them removed in a day or two. The absorbable sutures are trimmed or removed after one week. Patients can resume their regular activity one week after the neck lift.
