The aging process cannot be stopped, but you can still enhance your appearance with a facelift. A rhytidectomy, or facelift, is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures today. Dr. Phillip Garcia leads Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery and is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who provides facelift procedures for residents of Orange Park, Florida.
What Is A Facelift?
A facelift procedure helps address the visible signs of aging on the face, especially the lower cheek and neck area. If you are unhappy with signs of aging, such as excess skin on your neck or sagging jowls, a facelift may be right for you.
Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Facelift?
If you have begun noticing the visible signs of facial aging, such as sagging jowls or excessive neck fat, a facelift procedure may be right for you. As long as you are in sound overall health and have realistic expectations, you should make a good candidate for the procedure.
It is important to remember that a facelift can help you appear younger, but it does not stop the aging process itself. You should maintain a healthy skin care routine in order to maintain your results as long as possible.
How Is A Facelift Performed?
A facelift surgery involves the removal of excess skin, and the underlying tissue will also be pulled tight. We then resculpt the facial contours and redrape the skin. A facelift is effective in the elimination of sagging facial skin, loose neck skin, and jowls.
We begin your procedure by making incisions above your hairline at your temples, running in front of the ears and behind them. We lift the skin and tighten and resculpt underlying muscle tissue. We then pull the skin tight over the muscle and remove any excess skin. Sometimes another small incision is needed under the chin to allow for the extraction of chin and neck fat.
