What Is A Facelift?

Facelift procedures help address issues with sagging facial skin, often found in the lower neck or cheek. The lower cheeks often display signs of jowls, while the neck can look unsightly due to sagging skin.

A facelift may be right for you if you are concerned about the visible signs of aging that may make you look older than you feel.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Facelift?

Virtually any adult may benefit from a facelift if they are in general good health and are unhappy with the visible signs of aging. It is important to manage your expectations if you are considering undergoing a facelift procedure. A facelift can enhance your appearance and make you appear younger, but it cannot halt the aging process. You must maintain a healthy skin care regimen after your surgery to keep your results as long as possible.

How Is A Facelift Performed?

During a facelift excess skin is removed, underlying muscle tissue is pulled tight, facial contours are resculpted, and facial skin is redraped. A facelift will eliminate sagging skin on the face, neck, and jowls.

The procedure begins when we make an incision above the hairline that runs behind the ears. At this point, we lift the skin and tighten and resculpt underlying muscle tissue. We then pull the skin tightly over the underlying muscle and eliminate any excess skin. Sometimes, a small incision may be needed under the chin to make room for the excision of excess neck and chin fat.
