Juvederm® in Jacksonville, FL

What is Juvederm®?

Juvederm® is a dermal filler treatment that can help you appear more youthful and refreshed by reducing facial lines and wrinkles. It contains hyaluronic acid. This special substance has the ability to both attract and hold many times its own weight in water. This is one reason our skin is more supple and hydrated in our youth, as opposed to old age.

Hyaluronic acid naturally moisturizes and smooths your face, but this important substance declines as you age. Juvederm® works by selectively restoring hyaluronic acid levels in areas where it is needed the most. When it is injected into areas displaying signs of lines, wrinkles and creases, Juvederm® goes to work, adding moisture, plumpness and volume to the surrounding skin.

How Much Does Juvederm® Treatment Cost for Jacksonville Residents?

Since Juvederm® is considered to be a cosmetic treatment, its costs are not normally covered by insurance plans. However, we accept numerous payment options at Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery, including cash, checks, and major credit cards. Financing is also available.

During your initial consultation, you may share your individual goals and needs to be addressed by your Juvederm® treatment. This information will allow us to craft a unique treatment plan that is tailored just for your own individual needs.

How is Juvederm® Administered?

When you arrive for your Juvederm® treatment, the actual appointment will not take very long. First, we will apply a numbing agent to the treatment area. We use a special method that helps evenly distribute the product throughout the upper skin layer. Juvederm® will begin working right away and your results should be immediately noticeable.

After treatment, it is normal to experience some minor redness, stiffness and swelling at the treatment site. These effects are only temporary and should resolve themselves on their own. If you wish to speed the process, applying an ice pack to the area will help with any minimal side effects you may be experiencing.

How Long Will my Juvederm® Treatment Results Last?

Your treatment results should last as long as one year. The product will be gradually absorbed and metabolized by your body. Follow up treatments will help you maintain your results and restore the hyaluronic acid that your body has absorbed.

Lip Injections FAQ

Because we generally use softer filler in the lip, and because we move our lips very often throughout the day, filler typically does not last as long in the lips as it does in other areas of the face.  Volbella lasts up to 12 months, Ultra may last up to 6 months.  Due to individual differences among patients, these durations may vary.  It’s important to note that additional lip filler may be added whenever more volume or smoothing is desired.  It is not necessary to wait until the effect of the previous filler has completely diminished.

Yes, patient comfort is always a concern with any treatments provided.  Lips are one of the most sensitive areas of the body, so adequately numbing them prior to injecting is a priority.  We have numbing cream, ice, and laughing gas for use to help with keeping patients comfortable during their treatment.  Additionally, the fillers that we use from the Juvéderm line of products all contain lidocaine, which is a numbing agent.  After injections, patients typically report that the treatment was more comfortable than they thought it would be.  Usually the anticipation is more difficult than the actual injections.

During consultations for lip filler, I advise patients to take precautions to avoid bruising.  Four days prior to treatment, patient may start taking an all-natural supplement called Arnica.  This can help to lower their risk of bruising.  Additionally, avoiding ibuprofen and alcohol for 48 hours prior to injections can help reduce the risk of bruising.  On the day of treatment, just prior to injecting, I’ll have my patients apply ice to the area to be injected.  This not only helps with comfort, but by constricting the blood vessels, it can reduce the risk of bruising.

Yes, lips filled with a hyaluronic acid filler such as those in the Juvéderm and Restalyne lines of fillers can be dissolved with hylournadaise.  This is not an immediate effect and often causes swelling and bruising but does help to speed up the process of the breakdown of the filler.  To minimize the risk of needing or wanting filler dissolved, make sure to see an experienced injector.  Ask to see before and after photos of their work and make sure all of your concerns are addressed prior to your treatment.
